Muban Award artist Li Wenpeng exhibited at the British Museum

Muban Award artist Li Wenpeng’s print Once Upon a time there is a mountain no. 1 (从前有座山 一）is currently being exhibited at Sir Joseph Hotung Gallery of the British Museum.

The display label writes: “Li Wenpeng is a young printmaker from Heilongjiang Province who graduated from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing.  In this series, he emphasises the grain of the woodblock to portray the mysterious and magical mountains from Chinese legends.  Dotted throughout the landscape are animals, pagodas and figures, many of whom look like Buddhist monks. ”
